A Statutory Declaration is a formal document, which is sworn as an oath in the presence of either a solicitor or magistrate. This document is written in a prescribed way and the person giving the declaration affirms that the content is true or to the best of their knowledge it is true.
A Statutory Declaration is considered a legal document and therefore making a false statement on a statutory declaration is tantamount to perjury.
